In 2022 I’m Overcoming Fear and Making a Movie
2021 was a big year for me. Not because I had a breakthrough role and suddenly became famous (which I didn’t) or because I won awards for my acting or directing (which I did) but because it was the year when I started deconstructing limiting self-beliefs and building a new and improved mindset to carry me to greater heights than I ever imagined.
And I can imagine quite a bit.
Since my early childhood I’ve imagined being a film director. Before ever wanting to be an actor I wanted to be a film director. I watched videos about the making of Indiana Jones and Star Wars and I wanted to be a director.
And I have directed. I have directed music videos, short films, spoofs of Hollywood movies. I’ve won awards for it them. I’ve even made a feature-length home-video on a Hi8 camcorder. But I’ve never made a movie. A proper movie. And its been decades.
So, this year its going to happen. And its not a ‘new year, new me’ thing. At some point in the last three months I decided to make it my ‘one big goal’. Maybe it’s the experience of covid and the realization of how precious time is, or maybe I’ve just run out of patience, but its going to happen. I have written a ‘impressive’ (not my words) script which can be delivered on a micro-budget and fits a genre (it’s a heist movie) which will give it good…
